020 I Miss Richard Simmons
Description
Does anybody else Miss Richard Simmons? Because I sure do. I miss how he made me feel with the 'Sweatin to The Oldies' workout videos. Now, I don't exercise and I don't teach it, but I still miss him and in this episode I’ll explain why.
You’ll hear how Richard Simmons created a space for people dealing with extreme weight loss when it wasn't a thing like it is now. I'll also share why I believe making overweight people feel worse about themselves when they already feel bad enough is counterproductive and cruel.
What Is Covered:
- Why I miss Richard Simmons
- The harmful effects of fat shaming
- How to set realistic expectations for weight loss
- The war between bariatric surgeries and natural weight loss
- The tough love approach to losing weight
- Why making fat people feel bad about their weight is counterproductive and cruel
- Compassion for weight loss success
- The challenges overweight people face daily
- Losing weight when you're a picky eater
