Canmore-based hospitality brand Basecamp Resorts announced its commitment to donate $100k (over three years) to The Alberta Cancer Foundationโs Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Unitsโ enhancement project. The gift will support updates to the mammography equipment and improvements to the mobile health coaches for two Mobile Breast Cancer Screening Units operated by Screen Test, so the service can continue providing a profound impact for people across the province.
ย
Screen Test provides Albertans with a high quality, cost effective screening program designed to interrupt the disease of breast cancer at the earliest possible stage, increases awareness of the benefits of early detection in reducing mortality from breast cancer, and increases the knowledge and skills of Albertans and of health professionals that will promote healthy attitudes and practices towards breast health. Funding from the Alberta Cancer Foundation has been critical to the success of this program - which began in 1991 - allowing more Albertans to undergo breast cancer screening in their own communities. The program currently serves 120 Rural communities, 28 of which are Indigenous communities across Alberta.
