Back to EpisodesOngoing Travesty of the George Floyd Persecutions Tou Thao's Sentencing
Description
This week saw the sentencing of former police officer Tou Thao over the in-custody death of #GeorgeFloyd on May 25, 2020. Thao is the final of the four police officers charged and persecuted over Floyd's death.
Every facet of these persecutions has been little more than a legal travesty and racial lynching, given the utter lack of evidence that any of these officers caused Floyd's death given the many other lethal factors driving Floyd's demise.
These lethal factors included Floyd's 3x fatal level of fentanyl in his blood, his just having swallowed meth tablets to avoid discovery, his substantially enlarged heart, his severe hypertension, his 70% occluded coronary arteries, and his own decision to violently fight lawful arrest for 10 minutes.
In the context of these undisputed facts no reasonable jury could have concluded beyond a reasonable doubt that the officers involved in Floyd's arrest caused his death--so the jury's verdicts of guilty can only be unreasonable, and a legal travesty.
