Circadian biology is the main mechanism by which fasting helps humans. We ain’t supposed to eat at night! Circadian rhythm is a 24 hour oscillation pattern in metabolic, physiological and behavioral functions of almost all species. It is an adaptation to the rotation of the Earth. Fasting protocols that disrupt this rhythm are unhelpful. Behaviors that keep people from eating at night and on this rhythm are helpful.
