The Shema: God is One, Love God and Love your neighbor

Published 2 years, 8 months ago
Description

The Shema, the watchword of the Jewish people, states "The LORD our God, the LORD is One."(Deut 6:4) We discuss the nature of the word "One" from a point of view of the trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Shema also is the great commandment, "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your might"(Deut 6:5). And as Yeshua said, "You shall love your neighbor as your self". (Lev. 19:18,Mat 22:37-39, Gal 5:14) The Shema further states: "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart" (Deut 6:6) "These words" (Devarim) correspond to the 10 words (commandments) written on the tablets of stone. These words shall now be written on our hearts that we may walk a path of obedience guided by the Holy Spirit as we "become conformed to the image of His Son". (Rom 8:29)
