Today we are talking about Idea #3 to help you manage people even better, which is to Foster Accountability.
Accountability is a crucial ingredient in any work environment. You need to foster accountability and hold your employees responsible for their work. This results in them taking on more responsibility and makes your job of managing them even easier. As you know, added responsibility can be a source of motivation for the employees. They begin to feel that you are relying on them to play a major role in the success of your business.
To create the right environment for accountability, you need to outline your expectations very clearly. Then, if the employee doesn’t fulfill your expectations, you can reprimand them. All good business owners do allow a grace period for the employee to rectify the situation but don’t make it too extensive or it can cause other employees to not take you seriously. Take the necessary action at the appropriate time. However, don’t make an example of the employee just for the sake of intimidating others.
