Talking to those on "the other side" politically, with Karen King

Season 1 Published 2 years, 9 months ago
Description
Karen King joined me for another chat. This time she wanted to share a recent experience at a MAPS conference, where she went out of her way to address the political elephant in the room. To her surprise, when she opened up to new people about her concerns about ideological bias, every person with whom she spoke agreed with her. About Karen: Karen King, LMHC has been a psychotherapist for almost two decades, and has loved every minute of it. Her background in dance and meditation informs all that she does in work with clients and clinicians every day. Karen started a Counseling and Psychiatry group practice in 2015 and it has evolved into a Ketamine Assisted Therapy clinic. Karen completed the MAPS MDMA Assisted Therapy training as well as the MAPS Naropa Psychedelic Assisted Therapy training and has worked as a Ketamine Assisted Therapist for over two years. She regularly Supervises in WA state, and is beginning to present and offer trainings for clinicians interested in adding Ketamine Assisted Therapy to their practices. She also offers individual and group Ketamine Assisted retreats and offers consultation to therapists and also trip sitters. Her website is karencking.com and her Instagram account is @thepsychedeliccounselor. About Karen's clinical work : "The most potent skill I want to offer clients is the ability to both witness and experience fully whatever is arising within them with kindness and curiosity. Holding this paradox gently appears to be the way to move through difficulty with softness and be open to the wisdom of the challenge. We can allow ourselves be transformed by looking into these difficult places directly, and yet our world conspires to keep our eyes averted. It takes a brave spirit to look inward, and through therapeutic preparation you will begin to feel confident in this way of looking at the world and yourself. Then before you know it, it becomes your wild talent, reclaimed as a new way of being." __________________________________________________________________________________To contact me: I am on twitter @JLeslieElliott And if you appreciate this ongoing project and would like to support my continued work in this area you can chip in at any of the following (thank you very much!): https://www.paypal.me/jleslieelliott https://www.buymeacoffee.com/radicalcenter https://www.patreon.com/theradicalcenter
