Daniel Maigler is the mental health advisor for Paws for Patrick, a non profit that connects young people with mental health issues to emotional support animals. Host of the mental health podcast Not Allowed to Die, school social worker, therapist in private practice and a proud husband, and father to two boys and Mariska the three toothed Patterdale Terrier. For a therapist losing a client to suicide is the worst case scenario. For me that loss was compounded by the loss of my nephew to suicide a year later. I was given the opportunity to turn my pain into healing for myself and others when I was asked to become the mental health advisor for Paws for Patrick by Patrick's family. In addition, I help pull back the curtain on how mental health treatment works on my podcast Not Allowed to Die where I share dilemmas I'm seeing in my practice as a school social worker and therapist and interview guests who have a unique take on mental health. Since 1999 I have worked with over 1000 teens with mental health issues in a variety of settings from hospitals to groups homes as well as schools where I have been a social worker and guidance counselor. I was also the lead presenter for Up2US: QSI which gave actionable steps of how to get men to be more involved in standing up against intimate partner violence and sexual assault. In addition, I spent 15 years as a high school lacrosse coach. I am delighted to talk about any topic related to mental health and male socialization.www.pawsforpatrick.orgThe Fresh Patch Podcast - Where Good Pets Get It.
