[Ep. 154] Pleasure Eating: The Somatics Of Binging & Recovery w/ Lacou Flipse

Published 2 years, 8 months ago
Description

In this episode, Luis is joined by Lacou Flipse, a binge eating recovery coach and creator of the Pleasure Eating Process. Luis and Lacou discuss their shared history of binge eating, and how somatic awareness builds our capacity to bring attention to the feelings that are underneath the urge to binge.

Lacou shares how much confusion and shame she once experienced around binge eating recovery, and how hard it was to talk about her story. However, through the practice of becoming embodied, she explains how we can feel how binge eating is no longer pleasurable, and instead turn eating into a prideful and honoring ritual. By working with our emotions and learning to feel satiated before we get to a meal, or “coming to food fed”,  we can bring the feeling of regulation, so we can truly experience the pleasure of a meal.

Luis then leads Lacou through a somatic inquiry demo about the regulation of doing the work you love, and the dysregulation that can occur around marketing it.

Both agree that the journey of recovery can be really pleasurable, and how releasing the idea of what recovery is “supposed to” look like is incredibly freeing.
