Today we share some advice that isn’t new but is incredibly relevant. It’s all about the 1%... And that 1% can lead pretty dang quickly to a change of 10% or more.
Eddie points out that the bad patterns in your life don’t generally appear overnight. Tyler shares an example about Terry Crews’ descent to flabbiness once he stopped playing football. This didn’t happen overnight.
Eddie shifts to the pattern of infidelity that is common to traveling workers, whether it be in construction or other fields. The descent into that behavior usually happens with small, seemingly innocent shifts in behavior.
You’re going to experience 1% movement in one direction or another most days. If you’re not making a conscious effort for that movement to be in a positive direction, you're not likely to head that direction by chance.
We discuss food intake. It’s much easier to be 500 calories above your recommended intake than it is to be 500 calories below that line. If you’re reaching your 40s, you know that this principle becomes increasingly important in relation to issues of metabolism and fitness.
The message? Be aware. Be deliberate. Master the 1%.
