Pikes Peak Hill Climb is the most prestigious race in the entire country. This year is the 101st anniversary of a race, not just against other cars but against a 14,115ft mountain with 156 turns over 12.42 miles. Derek and his team are adding to Mitsubishi’s over 200 car deep fight against the mountain in their purpose built Evo X. We start by talking about Derek’s history of racing the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. He then tells us about the setup on his Evo X that makes it not only fast but able to handle all of those turns and gigantic elevation change. Derek talks about his racing background and why he eventually decided to talk on the mountain from other forms of racing. Derek talks about his goals for this year, the race is actually this weekend (June 25th, 2023). He then goes on to talk about his long term goals in the race including setting new records.
