Penn State football opened the doors of the Lasch Building a week ago and spent several hours talking with the media during the middle of the summer period. Blue White Illustrated was on hand and is here to discuss their conversations with the Penn State coaches. 

Today on the BWI Live Show, host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer will chat about their conversations with the staff. Bauer spoke with new wide receiver's coach Marques Hagans, tight ends coach Ty Howel and special teams coordinator Stacy Collins. Meanwhile, T-Frank spent the entirety of his time with offensive coordiantor Mike Yurcich. Both experts gained interesting insight into the team and will share it on the show.

Penn State coaches open up 

Bauer spoke with both the tight ends coach and the wide receivers coach. Franklin has been not-so-subtly pitting the wide receivers against the tight ends this summer to fuel the competition and raise the level of play from each group. How is that taken internally? Bauer gathered some insights. 

He also spoke with Collins about the team's plan at kick return this year and if it involves superstar tailbacks Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Bauer investigates the prudence of playing such valuable players and exposing them to potential injury. 

Meanwhile, T-Frank spoke with Yurcich on a wide variety of topics. He discussed Yurcich's role in evovling the offense each year, adapting to player strengths, and what it takes to get a new starting quarterback ready for the season. He also went in-depth with Yurcich about where he thinks he's grown as an offensive coordinator over the years.
