When the Southern Baptist Convention met this week, a number of issues were on the docket. None, however, received the same notoriety as the decision to officially sever ties with Saddleback Church over their choice to name women as pastors. But while that final verdict has received most of the attention, the reasoning behind it points to a crucial lesson for applying God’s word to our culture today.
