Jimmy Mac gets an opportunity to catch up with Alphonso Lewis, a veteran driver for Yellow with 30 years of experience. As Jimmy notes, Alphonso has been involved with Wreaths Across America for a number of years. An NTDC Grand Champion in 2007, Alphonso has been to the national championships 10 times. As he tells Jimmy, every NTDC trip is special, but the 2022 championships have a very refreshing feeling because of the NTDC’s return following the pandemic. For Alphonso, being a champion is about being a safe driver, but it starts the night before and getting plenty of rest. Practice is also key, as is being prepared for pre-trip and written test. More importantly for Alphonso, his driving career has afforded him the chance to be home for his family.
