Heaven Calls Them Blessed: Blessed are the Meek (The Example of Moses Part 1)
Description
Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
IN ORDER FOR US TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF MEEKNESS LET US LOOK AT SOME BIBLICAL EXAMPLES AND WE START WITH MOSES. THE BIBLE RECORDS THAT HE WAS VERY MEEK NO WONDER IN HEAVEN WE WILL SING THE SONG OF MOSES AND THE LAMB.
Numbers 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
Revelation 15:3
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
Numbers 11:26-29 ESV
“Now two men remained in the camp, one named Eldad, and the other named Medad, and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they had not gone out to the tent, and so they prophesied in the camp. And a young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” And Joshua the son of Nun, the assistant of Moses from his youth, said, “My Lord Moses, stop them.” But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!”
MEEK PEOPLE ARE LOVING AND NOT JEALOUSY. THEIR AIM IN LIFE IS NOT TO OUTSHINE OTHERS BUT TO LIFT OTHERS TO THE SAME PEDESTAL THEY STAND ON OR EVEN HIGHER THAN THEMSELVES.
The plant of love must be carefully nourished, else it will die. Every good principle must be cherished if we would have it thrive in the soul. That which Satan plants in the heart—envy, jealousy, evil surmising, evil speaking, impatience, prejudice, selfishness, covetousness, and vanity—must be uprooted. If these evil things are allowed to remain in the soul, they will bear fruit by which many shall be defiled. Oh, how many cultivate the poisonous plants that kill out the precious fruits of love and defile the soul! – {Adventist Home p. 195.4}
SIBLING RIVALRY IS TO BE HANDLED BY LOVE, MEEKNESS AND FORGIVENESS. WE ARE ALL SIBLINGS, CHILDREN OF THE SAME HEAVENLY FATHER BY CREATION AND REDEMPTION
1 Peter 3:8-9
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Numbers 12:1-13
And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) 4And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. 5And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. 6And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. 7My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 8With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? 9And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. 10And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
