Description
Supernatural Season 3, Episode 2, The Kids Are Alright recap 👩👦 Dean drops in on an old flame in Cicero, Indiana, meets her eight-year-old son, and starts doing some VERY interesting math, while Sam gets a visit from a mysterious blonde, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (Yes, the title comes from The Who.)
Strange deaths are piling up in a quiet suburb, and kids are acting... off. Dean wants to check in on Lisa Braeden (Cindy Sampson), the yoga teacher he spent one very memorable weekend with eight years ago. Turns out she has a son, Ben (Nicholas Elia), who loves AC/DC and has a birthday party going on. Hmm. While Dean bonds with Ben, Sam suits up as Mr. Insurance Man and realizes the kids in this neighborhood aren't who they seem. Meanwhile, a blonde with a very fancy knife keeps showing up with answers Sam wants.
Episode Highlights:
- Lisa's friends gossiping about the hot guy at the birthday party
- Dean and Ben, the cutest little mini-Dean
- Sam's horrible shirt-and-tie combo
- A creepy kid smile we'll never unsee
- The mysterious hickey-like marks on the moms
- The worst real estate showing ever
- Dean saving the day, and Lisa's offer of a sequel weekend
- The mysterious blonde's big reveal
In the lore segment, we dig into changelings: the folklore of fairies swapping human babies with their own, the dark history used to excuse terrible treatment of children who were different, the rumors that King Charles I and King James were changelings, and the real-life cases of Christine Collins (the inspiration for Clint Eastwood's Changeling) and Bobby Dunbar.
Dean: "She was a yoga teacher. That was the bendiest weekend of my life."
