Fed raises rates and hints at pausing its tightening cycle

The US central bank raised its benchmark interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point to the 5.00%-5.25% range as forecast. In his statement following the announcement, Fed Chair Jerome Powell gave hints that the Fed could now be set to pause its current hiking cycle.
