Detroit Lions Podcast Approves, So Far

This organizational design is something completely new for the Detroit Lions. They aren’t doing the “Rams way” or the “Saints way” – and thank god they aren’t doubling down on the “Patriots way” – this is something new and appears to be the “Lions way”.  We go over each candidate and discuss what they bring to the table, how they fit, and potential areas in which they could find problems. We take a broad look at how each of the hires and potential hires fit together, and then the magic comes.

Lions Organizational Structure Makes Perfect Sense

Chris tells you how the organization has been put together, provides examples from the real world of how other (non-football) organizations are structured similarly, and explains why it is a great model. All the negative talk about Rod Wood is from people who have no organizational design knowledge and who would rather react in a knee-jerk way rather than actually foment an understanding of what it is they are judging.  From there, the conversation heads to the lack of experience each of these folks have in their roles. Chris goes back in time and brings together an excellent parallel as to how this was done before with amazing success – specifically at Ford Motor Company.

Senior Bowl Coverage Is Much More Important With No NFL Combine

It was recently announced that there will be no NFL Combine this year. Teams will be resorting to “pro days” to evaluate players and talent. This is a real blow to fans as they won’t have the coverage that they usually do in the lead up to the NFL Draft. This also makes next week’s Senior Bowl practices much more important. Just about everyone in the Detroit media is going to be reporting on the information they get from other outlets for their Senior Bowl and player coverage. As always, The Detroit Lions Podcast will be covering the Senior Bowl as credentialed media. We’ll have player interviews, film of players during practice, a number of live shows, and a whole lot more.
