04/19/2023-Cynthia Wilson Mpls NAACP President-The Minneapolis NAACP is highly disappointed with the disrespect and refusal to host a meeting with the Brooklyn Center School District 286.
Description
The Minneapolis NAACP is highly disappointed with the disrespect and refusal to host a meeting with
the Brooklyn Center School District 286. The Minneapolis NAACP became involved with an investigation
of hostile work environment, disparities with discipline/termination, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse,
retaliation, and discrimination within the school and primarily with the Human Resource Department.
We as an organization take any claims of any kind seriously and provide our due diligence in
investigating. Upon doing so, we reached out to the Superintendent of the Brooklyn Center School
District 286, to meet and we were told NO! This is unacceptable as a taxpayer, and as a civic leader in
the black community. Our question is, what are they hiding, that they will not meet with us, nor provide
us with information about their policies/practices? They cannot and will not just tell us, NO. They’re
using their “White Supremist” behavior. This is the 21 st century, and regardless of what you think about
someone, based on their race, disability, gender, age, religion, (any protected class) you will be
challenged. We demand to be treated with respect! The Minneapolis NAACP is a branch of the National
Organization that is the oldest and most effective civil rights movement in the country and will be valued
and respected as such. We are demanding a meeting with the Brooklyn Center School Board
immediately, for this blatant level of dismissive behavior, and dereliction of duties assigned to the
superintendent.
