Cathy O'Dowd, South African mountaineer and author of: "Just for the love of it!'

Cathy O’Dowd author of the outstanding book: "Just for the love of it' The dangers of climbing success mountain, knowing when to continue climbing, when to change direction, or just stop…and the costs of doing any of the above. Cathy is a South African mountaineer, she was the first woman in the world to climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, and she did it from both its north and south sides, and she remains an active adventurer today. She was part of the team that did the first ascent of Nan-ga Par-bat via the Mazeno ridge and her most recent expedition was a ski-mountaineering ascent of Mount Logan, the second highest peak in North America. Mountain climbing is an excellent metaphor for life, but especially for those of us in leadership roles. The insights she has discovered about herself, and about individuals and teams under intense stress in the face of overwhelming challenge, are what Cathy shares with corporate audiences around the world. Her stories touch on themes of importance to anyone trying to be their best and get the best out of people.
