It's just an interesting distraction when SONY pictures gets hacked, it may even have some entertainment value to know that the public can now read emails from executives and we can get a look at some provocative photos of a Hollywood star. Some will even hale hackers as hero's.
However, it gets a little more personal when in 2013 Yahoo faces cyber attack. The attack compromised the real names, email addresses, dates of birth and telephone numbers of 500 million users. The breaches knocked an estimated $350 million off Yahoo’s sale price.
2013 it was Target stores: Credit/debit card information and/or contact information of up to 110 million people compromised. The company recently estimated the cost of the breach at $162 million
2014 JP Morgan Chase
The largest bank in the nation had a hack that compromised the data of more than half of all US households – 76 million – plus 7 million small businesses.
In 2017 when more than 500 Million Account Details Stolen from the company we should be able to trust: Equifax it becomes very personal.
