Description
When a research paper regarding dog training is published feelings always abound in the community. Using research to make informed decisions in the field of dog training and behavior is not always easy. Lisa Gunter PhD, CBCC-KA is an assistant professor at Coastal Carolina University where she directs the Laboratory for Animal Behavior and Welfare. She’s a dog trainer researcher extraordinaire whose work centers on the welfare and behavior of companion animals with a special focus on our interactions with them. Researchers with strong training and behavior backgrounds are a rare breed and I was lucky enough to sit down with her to discuss the role of research in the dog training profession.
