Many are confused about which advisor is which and what the difference may be. A fee based advisor operates as a fiduciary as well as a commission based advisor when circumstances arise. A fee-only advisor only operates in the fee only space where they must put client interest ahead of their own “fiduciary”. They charge fees for their services and forgo commissions.
