Maya and Tim live in a future powered by coal, kids over eight must work for a living, and reality is not what it seems.
Tim’s parents died after a random traffic accident, leaving him alone and in debt for the medical expenses. Unable to pay, his liabilities were auctioned off to a family who owns a café, where he now has to work until their daughter, Maya, finishes college.

When two mysterious customers from Europa Café show up in the lobby of the building that hides Anneita’s secret archive, she forces Tim and Maya to leave. While on their way back to the café, Maya feels that they are being followed. When they arrive at the Europa, they find it closed and Maya’s mother missing.
