Episode Details

Supernatural Season 2, Episode 14, Born Under a Bad Sign recap 😈 Sam goes missing for a week, shows up covered in blood, and is not acting like Sam at all, while Jared Padalecki gives one of the best performances of the series so far on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

Dean's been searching everywhere when Sam finally calls from a motel, soaked in blood with no memory of the past week. The trail leads to a hunter named Steve Wandell, dead in his home, and Sam is convinced he did it. Sam begs Dean to kill him before he hurts anyone else, Dean refuses, and Sam disappears again. Next stop: a bar in Duluth, Minnesota, where Sam has a very uncomfortable reunion with Jo (Alona Tal).

Episode Highlights:

• The motel's fish-and-bobber dividing wall (we're always looking for them now)
• Steve Wandell's sweet gun collection (we'd be taking some of those)
• Jared's surgical little facial expressions, getting more obvious as the episode goes on
• Sam hitting on Jo while actively insulting her (we've all met that guy)
• Excellent fight choreography, and Jo tied to a post (this show loves bondage)
• The truth about Jo's dad, Bill Harvelle, and what really happened with John
• Jo's gauze patch, which needed stitches (she's new, we'll cut her some slack)
• Bobby being Bobby, and Bobby's anti-possession charms. Take these on the road, boys.

In the lore segment, we dig into the real case behind The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It: Arne Cheyenne Johnson, convicted of manslaughter in Brookfield, Connecticut, in 1981, and the first person in US history to claim demonic possession as a defense in a murder trial. We cover Ed and Lorraine Warren's involvement, the black mist Lorraine claimed to see, and the exorcism that came before it all.

"Dude, you like, full-on had a girl inside you for like a week." – Dean Winchester
