Gregg Schmedes is an American physician and politician who is a member of the New Mexico Senate from the 19th district. He previously served in the New Mexico House of Representatives from the 22nd district. He has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Doctor of Medicine from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Schmedes also works as an assistant professor of surgery at the University of New Mexico Hospital and serves as New Mexico's director for the American Academy of Medical Ethics. He was elected to the New Mexico House in 2018 and won the November 2020 general election for the New Mexico Senate.
