Today on the Film at Lincoln Center podcast, we’re sharing a conversation following the 57th New York Film Festival premiere of Pedro Costa’s masterful new drama Vitalina Varela. Opening this Friday exclusively at Film at Lincoln Center, the film follows a Cape Verdean woman who returns to Fontainhas for her husband’s funeral after being separated for decades. The grief of the present and the ghosts of the past commingle in Costa’s ravishing film, which might be the director’s most visually extraordinary work.
