Sermon Focus on Jesus and Not on Life’s Rough Road

Season 3 Published 3 years, 4 months ago
Description
STORY: When I was in college they taught ploughing a long field. The tractor driver would go to the end of the field and put a pole as I made the first furrow. He would then come and sit besides me constantly reminding me to keep my eyes on the pole. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. John 3:14-16 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16¶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. THE STORY OF MOSES LIFTING UP THE SERPENT IS RECORDED IN NUMBERS. IT WAS A FIGURE OF JESUS WHO WOULD TAKE AWAY THE STING OF SIN ON THE CROSS Numbers 21:4-9 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. 5And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there anywater; and our soul loatheth this light bread. 6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. 7¶Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.8And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. THE PEOPLE CONFESSED THEIR SIN, HAVE YOU CONFESSED YOUR SINS Numbers 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY THE WAY AND START MURMURING. ONCE YOU START MURMURING YOU WILL END UP CALLING MANNA THE FOOD OF ANGELS BAD! LIFE IS NOT AN EASY ROAD BUT KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS HE IS COMING SOON There is a song by a little spoken of author, John W. Peterson, “It’s not an Easy Road”
