Supernatural Season 2, Episode 8, Crossroad Blues recap 😈 The boys meet their first crossroads demon (and her signature way of sealing a deal), invisible hellhounds are coming to collect, and it all traces back to blues legend Robert Johnson on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

The episode opens in 1930s Mississippi, where a young guitar player (La Monde Byrd) has been making a name for himself... and is being hunted by something only he can see. Flash forward to present day: people who all spent time at the same old bar are being torn apart by big black dogs, and the boys realize the victims all made deals 10 years ago, right at a crossroads. As Sam rushes to save the people whose time is up, Dean has some questions of his own for the demon who took Dad's deal.

In the lore segment, we dig into the real Robert Johnson: the legend of the bluesman who took his guitar to a crossroads near Dockery Plantation at midnight to sell his soul, and his mysterious death at 27. Plus, crossroads folklore, the difference between hoodoo and voodoo, Papa Legba, Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus and his contract with Mephistopheles (24 years, not 10), and the Faust play in Tombstone with Val Kilmer.
