Supernatural Season 2, Episode 7, The Usual Suspects recap 👮‍♀️ Dean gets arrested for murder, Sam gets dragged in for questioning, and Linda Blair (yes, Regan from The Exorcist) plays the detective who might just believe them on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast.

A SWAT team busts into the boys' motel room (one big Winchester, how much backup do you need?), and Dean is found at the scene of a murder. While a douchebag cop named Pete (Jason Gedrick) interrogates Dean, Detective Diana Ballard (Linda Blair) grills Sam, who claims to be a law student but still won't stop talking. If you ever get arrested: keep your mouth shut. Told in flashbacks, the story slowly reveals a creepy woman who keeps appearing just before people die, and a local police department hiding something big.

Episode Highlights:

• The nonlinear storytelling (we prefer linear, but it finds its footing)
• That interrogation-room music. We were waiting for Adele to say hello.
• Dean's note to Hilts from McQueen, a Great Escape signal for Sam to bust out
• A pale, staring Daryl Hannah lookalike popping up right before people die
• Pete's mixed signals with Dean (get it together, Pete)
• Linda Blair being a total badass
• A ride in a police cruiser that is NOT a transfer
• Dean craving pea soup for some reason (we see what you did there)

In the lore segment, we dig into death omens from around the world: black butterflies, Halley's Comet, prophetic dreams, three knocks at the door in Ireland, covered mirrors, will-o'-the-wisps in Scotland, a murder of crows, a pale horse, the Korean belief in fan death, opals during the Black Death, falling portraits, doppelgangers, and black cats.

Dean: "So, Scully, what do you think?"
Sam: "I'm not Scully, you're Scully."
Dean: "Nah, I'm older. You're a redheaded woman."
