Galveston | Second Springfield | Arkansas Post
We move on to Texas and the second battle of Galveston on January 1st, 1863, where Confederate MG John B. Magruder looks to expell occupying Union troops from the city. Then, we have the second battle of Springfield on January 8th, in Missouri which is notable for urban house-to-house fighting, which was rare in the war. We end the episode with the battle of Arkansas Post on January 9th-11th. Part of the Vicksburg campaign, the Union hope to capture the fort from the Rebels.
