What does a waterfall in Costa Rica have to do with Wisdom laughing?

In Proverbs 8, Wisdom is pictured alongside the Creator before and during the creation of the universe. From the vastness of the cosmos to the microscopic complexity of a cell, creation points us toward the wisdom of the God who planned and ordered it all.

In Part 1 of this three-part series, we explore Proverbs 8 and the remarkable picture it gives us of Wisdom woven into the very fabric and order of creation. Along the way, Bobo shares an experience at a waterfall in Costa Rica that helps illuminate the surprising image of Wisdom rejoicing—or laughing—in God’s created world.

If wisdom is embedded in the order of creation itself, then cultivating wisdom isn't merely about learning a collection of helpful principles. It means learning to see and live within a world that God has wisely designed.
