Description
Supernatural Season 2, Episode 1, In My Time of Dying recap 🏥 The season two premiere picks up right after that cliffhanger crash, with Dean stuck in a coma, a Reaper named Tessa, and the Yellow-Eyed Demon making moves, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. We couldn't take a break between seasons. That finale said NOPE.
First up: a quick season one recap (Sam in nothing but a towel remains a highlight), a fun fact about how Bobby only exists because Loretta Devine wasn't available to bring back Missouri, and our season two predictions. Plus, a social media update: our fellow perverts have found us on TikTok (hi!), while Twitter's Sam girls and Dean girls are still at war. And LA shares Misha Collins' theory from Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast about why so many women love Supernatural. Two pandemic-single hosts who got hooked on the show in 2020? We may have some thoughts.
The episode opens with the Impala totaled and all three Winchesters rushed to the hospital. Sam and John wake up. Dean doesn't... but he's also somehow walking the halls, invisible, having an out-of-body experience. There he meets Tessa, a sweet brunette who may not be what she seems, while Sam turns to Bobby and a very questionable toy-store Ouija board to reach his brother.
Episode Highlights:
- The hospital handing out V-necks and pajama pants (where can WE get admitted?)
- Bobby surveying the demolished Impala at his junkyard (RIP, baby... for now?)
- Sam reaching Dean through a cardboard-and-plastic spirit board (it's Supernatural, it counts)
- Ghost Dean smashing a glass, Patrick Swayze style
- Tessa's big "lucky day, kid" moment
- John being suspiciously NICE to Sam (who is this man?)
- That whisper. WHAT DID JOHN SAY?!
- Us, sobbing. That's the highlight.
In the lore segment, we dig into out-of-body experiences and near-death experiences: the science, the neurology, why astronauts and epileptics report them, and the controversial idea of veridical perception, where people say they witnessed events while clinically dead. Plus, LA's favorite videos of people passing out on roller coasters.
"Dude, I full-on Swayzed that mother." – Dean Winchester
