Fly Fishing the Grand and Rugged Wind River Range with George Hunker

Episode 84 Published 3 years, 2 months ago
Description

Our destination is the grand and rugged Wind River Range in central Wyoming, with backcountry guide, George Hunker, Sweetwater Fishing Expeditions, Lander, Wyoming.  The Winds stretch 100 miles north to south, encompassing 3 wilderness areas, and are absolutely loaded with remote alpine lakes – over 2,000 – and the largest Golden Trout in the West.

As an Orvis-endorsed guide, George and his son run remote alpine trips to beautiful and uncrowded places.  With 50 years of experience in these mountains, George explains where and how to fish the Winds, how to beat the crowds, and a rundown on the elusive Golden Trout.  Stick around to the end for a great story of a college quarterback, a snowstorm, and a tough lady, and our "Doing Good" segment featuring a Trout Unlimited restoration project in Northern Wisconsin.
