Jarrod Antflick on Building a Resilient and Robust Achilles Tendon

Published 3 years, 2 months ago
Description

Have you ever had a client or athlete who was dealing with Achilles pain?

Maybe it was a gen pop client who was a little overweight.

Maybe it was a weekend warrior whose heel was stiff after a game of basketball or pickleball.

Or maybe it was a high performing athlete who was dealing with tendinopathy or rehabbing an Achilles tear.

Regardless, Achilles issues are on the rise and as trainers and coaches the more informed we are about these issues, the better we can take care of the clients and athletes we’re working with.

That’s why today I’ve brought on the “James Bond of Tendinopathy” – Jarrod Antflick.

Jarrod consults to teams in the UK’s English Premier League, Premiership Rugby, tennis, track and field, as well as the NBA and NFL teams in the USA. He has a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University, and is currently a PhD candidate at Imperial College, London.

He also works as consultant physiotherapist at The Fortius Clinic London, as a specialist in tendinopathy undertaking research in the management and diagnosis of tendinopathy.

If you said to any strength coach “You’re only allowed to do isometric training” they’d probably drop their lifting shoes and walk out the door. They’re going to want to do concentric and eccentric training because that’s how sport is played. – Jarrod Antflick
