Giving someone the "Silent Treatment" is a form od emotional abuse, if you ask some therapists.  I can see that point.  One of the most common pieces of marital advice is to never go to bed angry.  Jana relays a very funny story from Joel Osteen that pulls that advice and the silent treatment in together.

We discuss setting expectations, then someone (Jana) silently changing the plan and expecting me to just understand and step in tune, so to speak.  I tripped up. AND THEN GOT IN TROUBLE.  That's not fair.   

Most arguments are started by something superficial because something has tickled the root of the real issue that runs much deeper.  Solid communication and understanding will help both parties navigate in a safe, kind path toward a positive outcome.
