Description
Tuesday December 20 at 2.34am, a 6.4 earthquake struck the Northern California region of Humboldt County, 260 miles North of San Francisco. 46% of US earthquake activity happens in Humboldt County. Only Alaska is more active. The region has experienced 40 plus magnitude 6 to 7 quakes in the last 100 years, but Tuesday's temblor was one of the most violent.
