One Weird Trick to Mail Seeds | DEA Letter on Mailing Seeds
In response to an inquiry from attorney Shane Pennington, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has affirmed that mailing cannabis seeds is legal, as long as the seeds contain no more than 0.3 percent THC. This ruling applies to all cannabis seeds, regardless of the amount of THC that might be produced in the buds if those seeds were cultivated.
While cannabis is still federally prohibited, the DEA's acknowledgment that cannabis seeds are generally uncontrolled and legal marks an important shift in policy. This new ruling provides clarity for those who wish to mail cannabis seeds, and paves the way for further research and development of this plant.
