As of June 29, 2021, the Cannabis Regulation Act is now in effect in New Mexico. This new law legalizes adult-use cannabis and paves the way for the creation of a new industry with thousands of potential new jobs. What type of businesses need a license?
All businesses that wish to sell cannabis products or produce cannabis for sale must obtain a license from the state. This includes dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers, and testing laboratories.
How do I apply for a license?
The first step is to fill out an application form from the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department. This form must be submitted along with a non-refundable application fee, supporting documents, and fingerprints.
