The Pgh Tattoo Shop Healing the Mark of Abuse
Published 3 years, 4 months ago
Description
Getting a tattoo requires trust and vulnerability, and some tattoo artists have taken advantage of that. The #TattooMeToo movement started several years ago, when women and queer folks began speaking up about the sexual abuse they’ve faced in tattoo shops.
Around that time, local tattoo artist Susie Humphrey opened Sanctuary in Lawrenceville with the goal of providing a safe space for people to get inked. Susie joins us to talk about what it takes to build an inclusive tattoo studio.
