#268 Why and how to meditate. (Personal development wisdom snippets)
Description
4
In this new series of episodes called "Snippets of Wisdom", I select my favourite, most insightful moments from previous episodes of the podcast.
The snippet of wisdom I chose for today comes from my conversation with Chess Edwards, in episode #081. Chess is a meditation teacher and spiritual guide.
The conversation took place in November 2020, and it is one of my favourite episodes, with much usable wisdom in the conversation. The snippet I chose today is about meditation - and the topic is of total relevance and timeliness to me right now, because only a few days ago I completed a 10-day silent meditation Vipassana retreat (see previous episode, #267).
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀:
* Devotion and discipline are necessary for spiritual growth
* Meditation is an interruption of the habits of the mind
* Self-enquiry: coming into the knowing of the Truth, your eternal nature
* A moment to stop and feel into what is the self, beyond the mind, prior to mind - the self that isn't being thought, the self that just is
