Ronnie Simpson is an offshore sailor who is currently preparing to race in the Global Solo Challenge 2023-24 on the Open 50 ‘Sparrow’. He has sailed more than 130,000 offshore miles split evenly between racing, cruising and deliveries. He has worked as a rigger, sailing instructor, charter boat captain, delivery captain, professional racing sailor, boat preparateur, yacht racing journalist, videographer, drone pilot and regatta media director. He is a combat-wounded and retired Iraq war veteran who served in the US Marines and credits sailing with changing his life and saving his life.
