Mississippi State's three-win streak ended in an unfocused evening at Kentucky. The Bulldogs lost as favorites and gave away priceless bowl status in the process. State's defense was beaten all over the field without the big plays of previous wins. The offense lost focus early and did not recover. Now 5-2 and 2-2 SEC, an even tougher matchup awaits. Alabama is not just upset but angry after a tight loss to Tennessee. The Crimson Tide has no margin left in the SEC West or in College Football Playoff terms. The Bulldog program is also suddenly shaken by the Wednesday death of offensive lineman Sam Westmoreland, who would have turned 19 Friday.
