BWI Daily: Scouting Penn State's top prospects with Anthony Treash of PFF
Description
Penn State football has several high-profile players entering the 2022 NFL Draft this upcoming spring. To gauge where they stand in the draft landscape, host Thomas Frank Carr speaks with Anthony Treash of PFF to get his view on the matter.
However, before they get to the prospects, they look at Penn State's most critical player on offense, quarterback Sean Clifford. They discuss the season that Clifford put together, what stood out, and where he improved. They also discuss Clifford's future at Penn State and what Nittany Lions fans should expect if the senior returns for a sixth year. Finally, Treash leaves the conversation of quarterbacks with a glimmer of hope in his evaluation of 5-star prospect Drew Allar.
The first player they discuss is Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker. Treash and T-Frank discuss Brisker's season and what stood out about the safety's stellar play. Treash also says that Brisker has the essential ingredient that makes an NFL defensive back stand out from the rest. But does he also say that Brisker should be a high draft pick?
The next player they discuss is edge defender Arnold Ebiketie. Treash was very high on the former Temple Owl and his transition to Penn State this offseason. Did he live up to or exceed his expectations? Next, T-Frank and Treash discuss what makes Ebiketie so great as a rusher, and then Treash gives his draft stock projection. Finally, T-Frank asks Treash to rank the senior among the best edge prospects that Penn State has produced over the last several years. Where does he rank Ebikeite among Odafe Oweh and Yetur Gross-Matos?
They save possibly the most controversial prospect for last with receiver Jahan Dotson. The numbers for Dotson this year are outstanding, but did his PFF grade match? How do his physical skills weigh into his draft evaluation? T-Frank and Treash discuss Dotson's future, and Treash says that the senior receiver answered more questions than not this past season.
They end the show with a discussion about edge defender Jesse Luketa. The hybrid defender hasn't publicly decided what he plans to do this offseason, so Treash weighs in on what he thinks Luketa should do. How does he project as an NFL defender? What does the road through the NFL look like for Luketa if he declares now? Finally, T-Frank and Treash wrap up agreeing that developing in one key area could make Luketa a high-profile prospect in the future.
