I recently visited Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was able to explore the Pecos Wilderness Backpacking to Lake Katherine. The trail thru the Pecos Wilderness is definitely not for the faint of heart as it has a significant elevation change of about 5,500 feet and a one-way distance of just under 8 miles when starting from the Santa Fe Ski Area.
