I had the distinct honor of returning to the Center for Metal Arts in Johnstown PA to teach a weekend work shop and I brought a microphone to have another conversation with CMA’s Executive Director Pat Quinn. I was lucky enough to catch John Williams after finishing up a week long Tong Making class he taught with Pat. I’ve known John for years online and it was great to finally meet after years of admiring him as an extraordinary blacksmith, toolmaker and craftsman. They talked about teaching together, the direction of forging education and a how we see this relatively new role as creating forging education for something that was never considered recreational up until recent history.

September 17th CMA is hosting the Cambria Iron Conference and this year the featured demonstrator Zack Noble will be working with the CMA team to forge a giant sculpture on the historic power hammer. We talked about the lead up to the Conference and the big upgrades since the last time I was down at CMA. Loved the time there and appreciate both Pat and John for being on the show.
